What is AMSC Book Club ?
The Al Iraqia Medical School Book Club (AMSCBC) is a vibrant community within the Al Iraqia Medical Students Club, dedicated to fostering a love for reading and intellectual growth among its members. The club encourages exploration of diverse literary genres, including novels, historical works, religious texts, self-development books, and autobiographies, ensuring a rich and varied reading experience. Guided by principles of mutual respect, constructive criticism, and freedom of expression, AMSCBC provides a welcoming space for members to share ideas, propose books, and engage in thoughtful discussions. With structured voting rules and a focus on inclusivity, the club promotes both individual growth and collective learning, making it a cornerstone of intellectual and cultural enrichment for medical students.
What are the Club Rules ?
Treat all members with mutual respect, regardless of differing opinions or perspectives.
Provide constructive feedback on ideas shared during discussions.
Encourage freedom of expression while maintaining polite and respectful communication.
To ensure active participation, all members must join at least one discussion per month. Failure to participate will result in automatic cancellation of membership.
Avoid proposing books that may be offensive to any sect, group, or individual.
When suggesting a book, include the title, author, a brief summary, and your personal opinion if you’ve read it.
During book voting, the member who finished the previous book first will have their vote counted as two.
In the event of a tie during book voting, the first suggested book will be selected.
Rotate book genres each month, such as novels, historical works, religious texts, self-development books, autobiographies, etc.
These rules ensure a respectful, engaging, and diverse reading experience for all members.
