This week, the English Club at Al-Iraqia University College of Medicine conducted a specialized training session for members selected to represent the college in the forthcoming national debating competition, the International Academy Language Debate (IALD).Â
The session was facilitated by Ms. Fatema AlKa'by, an architect and versatile creative with a strong passion for training and learning. Ms. AlKa'by has experience in debate through her participation in the Cairo University Model UN and is currently a dedicated self-improvement trainer and English language instructor.
During the session, participants engaged in discussions about the structure of a debate, the significance of clear argumentation, and strategies for thoughtfully addressing opposing viewpoints. The interactive environment allowed students to practice their skills through discussions on selected topics.
The English Club emphasizes that debate transcends mere competition; it serves as a vital tool for fostering critical thinking, enhancing confidence, and promoting intellectual exchange. The club's mission is to provide a platform for students to improve their communication skills, expand their perspectives, and engage in meaningful dialogue.
Looking ahead, the club will host another debate session in the coming weeks, focusing on new and thought-provoking topics. All students interested in discussion, reasoning, and self-improvement are encouraged to participate.
